Most Pinyon–Juniper Woodland Species Distributions Are Projected to Shrink Rather Than Shift Under Climate Change

How will climate change reshape the future of pinyon–juniper woodlands, some of the most widespread and ecologically important ecosystems in the western U.S.? This study models the environmental suitability of nine PJ tree species under various climate scenarios, revealing which regions may face the steepest losses—or hold potential for resilience.
