New Study: Are sage grouse fine-scale specialists or shrub-steppe generalists?

From the Sage Grouse Initiative:

A new paper from University of Montana scientists reinforces need to address big persistent threats facing sagebrush rangelands and to avoid sweating the small stuff.

  • The Wildlife Society released an article summarizing the paper which contains a link to the open access paper.

  • Working Lands for Wildlife recently sat down with lead author Dr. Joe Smith to learn more about his study’s findings and implications and we’ve summarized the interview in an Ask and Expert post.

  • If you would like to see Dr. Smith’s presentation on this topic that he delivered at the annual TWS conference held in Reno October 2019, we have the talk uploaded to our YouTube Channel.
